UBIFRANCE, French Trade Commission had the pleasure last week to take a French delegation of aerospace manufacturers to the “ Air Capital of the World”, Wichita (Kansas), where they were welcomed by the four world leaders on the market – Spirit AeroSystems, Cessna Aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft and Bombardier-Learjet . Spirit AeroSystems – major supplier of Boeing and Airbus, with 18,000 employees all around the world – mobilized more than twenty people in order to receive the delegation, welcomed by Richard Buchanan himself (COO).  The four Giants had selected the twelve French companies – including Thales Avionics – and offered them the opportunity to spend half a day in their premises, where were organized a guided tour of the site and one-on-one meetings with privileged contacts. These meetings enabled the French delegation to present their products and services, share their expertise and negotiate directly with the American groups.  It turned out to be very successful, for both the French and American companies. The French delegation most appreciated the visits and the different presentations on the American aircraft industry and the American groups seemed really interested in the delegation’s products and know-how.  These exchanges were therefore very promising and paved the way for further business opportunities between some members of the delegation and the American companies.  UBIFRANCE also organized a visit of Airbus North America and the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) : on each site, presentations were made in order to give the French delegation a better understanding of the aerospace market in the US.  On the last day of the visit, UBIFRANCE and the World Trade Council of Wichita organized a networking event . 178 excutives – both French and American – attended the cocktail reception and seized the occasion to exchange in a more relaxed atmosphere. UBIFRANCE would like to thank Carl Brewer, Mayor of Wichita and Graham Paul, General Consul of France in Chicago for coming to the event.
