  The French government today named Ms. Véronique Bédague-Hamilius as France’s Ambassador for International Investment, Chairman and CEO of the Invest in France Agency (IFA), and Managing Director of UBIFRANCE. Paris, March 12, 2014 In her role as France’s Ambassador for International Investment, and Chairman and CEO, Ms. Bédague-Hamilius will lead the Invest in France Agency (IFA), responsible for promoting and facilitating international investment in France. Concurrently, she will also lead UBIFRANCE, the French agency for international business development, which supports exports by French SMEs and mid-size companies. These two agencies are to be merged to form a single organization with 1,500 employees in 70 countries. “I am very pleased that the French President has appointed me to a strategic position for France’s international economic policy. Along with the teams from the IFA and UBIFRANCE, I am convinced that we will rise to the challenge of merging these two complementary organizations, with a view to raising France’s profile abroad, supporting French company exports, and serving France’s regions”, declared Ms. Bédague-Hamilius following her appointment. Ms. Bédague-Hamilius had previously held the position of Secretary General of the City and local authority of Paris since 2008, heading 50,000 public service employees, after having been Finance Director at City Hall from 2002 to 2008. Prior to this period, she also held a number of positions in the Budget Department at the Ministry for the Economy and Finances, and worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. The Invest in France Agency (IFA) is the national agency responsible for promoting and facilitating international investment in France. It also coordinates initiatives to promote France’s economic attractiveness. The IFA network operates worldwide, with offices in France as well as in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
