Blue Whale Company wins award at French CES 2019 Innovation Awards

Blue Whale Company - 31/10/18

French start-up Blue Whale Company, the creator of the SMS-driven Spy Can Compact has been announced as a French Honoree in the Smart Cities category at the French CES 2019 Innovation Awards.

Blue Whale Company designs, develops and markets IoT products, data loggers, measurement probes and smart valves all based on an innovative SMS communication technology.

The latest, the Spy Can Compact

The Spy Can Compact is a simple battery-powered tool to save water for use in

- housing

- residential sites

- professional buildings and more

Small with a nice design, simple to use, GSM connected, the Spy Can Compact is a small monobloc fixture of less than 6 inches long.

The Spy Can is fitted with a leak detection system: Whether the flow is very low, standard or very high, a specific algorithm is at work. As a result leaks are detected very quickly and the alerts sent immediately by SMS are very efficient.

The Spy Can Compact is also fitted with:

  • Different algorithms that monitor permanently the daily consumption, the weekly consumption and the monthly consumption: As soon as one of the limits has been reached, it sends an alert

  • An internal  clock function so that water can be shut off automatically every day outside the working hours. This limits the risk of flooding when buildings / infrastructures are not occupied and it reduces mechanically the wastage of water.

All in all the experience is that one can expect a reduction of 30% of water consumption with that technology, a crucial benefit at a time when water shortages are visible everywhere on the planet.

Thanks to its very competitive price, the investment is quickly profitable with the savings but if it prevents only one case of water damages the return on investment is immediately there.

A very technical fixture

The Spy Can Compact is cutting edge IOT product. Its construction is made up of very long lasting materials. The electronic PCB is micro-coated so that it works even when covered with water. There is no resin casting protection that makes recycling very difficult and that makes battery replacement very difficult.  Its casing is designed to be IP68. If necessary the battery can be replaced very easily.

On the operational side things have been designed to facilitate the installation. There is a Bluetooth communication for the setup. Terminal for the connexion of the water meter are of easy access. The design of the antenna makes it very performant so that it works in places where usually smart phone have lost access to the network.

There are also provisions such as a double monitoring of batteries, an anti-fraud function, an internal check-up and also a manufacturer setup that can be re-instated if necessary.

The Spy Can is also fitted with an internal memory recording all the information sent over the air.

Setup can be modified remotely if necessary. Many provisions have also been integrated in terms of security, to prevent hackers from entering into the system.

Clearly the Spy Can Compact has been designed to offer a maximum of satisfaction to the user.
