The “Terroir Tour”

Isabelle NGUYEN - 17-mai-2016 11:51:28

Organized by the French Trade Commission-Business France in Singapore, the brand new concept of the 2016 edition of “French Vineyards Talents” received a warm welcome, both from the French companies and the Singaporean professionals. They particularly appreciated the “Tournée des Terroirs” (Terroir Tour), a friendly and educational seminar which helped facilitates professional meetings and exchange. The “Terroir Tour” was hosted by a recognized wine expert, Mr. LIM Hwee Peng, in presence of 10 wine producers and traders from France and drew the attention of the wine professionals of Singapore. More than 120 importers, distributors, prescribers and specialized journalists came to learn more on soils, grape varieties and new wines introduced on that day (including Yellow Wine from Jura, or distinctive cepages from Gaillac …). The event was a great platform to show case the French savoir-faire (know-how), the creativity and exceptional wines.

The Aquitaine Limousin Poitou-Charentes French region in the spotlight at the first ProWine Asia       ProWine Asia inaugurated its first edition from the 12 th to 15 th of April 2016 in Singapore, within the Food Hotel Asia (FHA), the largest International exhibition in the region. Despite the mixed feedback from some participants of the fair due to the crowd was mostly drained by the Food and Hotel segments, the first edition of ProWine Asia took up the challenge and had laid a good foundation for a promising future. Attracting more 8,000 visitors (47% from foreign countries), Prowine Asia brought together 257 exhibitors from 30 countries, including France, Spain, Austria, Australia and Italy. The French presence was marked by impressive number of companies within the France Pavilion (45 companies), most of them were taken by AAPRA (Aquitaine Agribusiness Promotion Agency) and Promessa with the Champagne Lounge. The next ProWine Asia editions are expected to increase in size and number of exhibitors, and thus attract more professionals from the ASEAN region.   Considered as "complementary to the fair" by several participants (Pierre Oteiza, Delpeyrat, Valades, Tursan, Pierre de Segonzac, Maison Noble...), the Cocktail Networking Party was held on the 13 th of April by the Business France office in Singapore and the representative of the South-west region (AAPRA). Gathering around 200 people in conviviality and sharing atmosphere, including importers, distributors and F&B players, the party aimed to highlight 17 producers & ambassadors of the Southwest gastronomy region. Foie gras, charcuterie, cheese, caviar and above all wines and spirits have been discovered, enjoyed and appreciated throughout the evening.

Business France organized B2B meetings with importers from ASEAN at the FHA 2016     Flagship event of the agribusiness sector in Asia, the Food Hotel Asia fair (FHA) was held in Singapore Expo from 12 th to 15 th of April 2016. This biennial event of the 2016 edition attracted more than 68,000 trade visitors and 3000 exhibitors. This year it also hosted the first edition of Pro Wine Asia, a subsidiary of the famous ProWein fair in Düsseldorf for wines and spirits.   With nearly 200 exhibiting companies, the French presence was reinforced by 2 pavilions:   one brought together 80 companies in FHA and the other 45 companies in ProWine. The other French companies came independently or were in the food & hotel equipment sections.      In order to assist better the French exhibitors in their business development in the region, the Agriculture Department in Business France Singapore (Agrotech) had organized a series of Btob meetings with Asean buyers. More than 30 meetings, held on second day of the exhibition FHA, have been a great complement to both French exhibitors and Asean buyers. Those meetings had been targeted and accompanied by the team Agrotech Asean of Business France. Very popular, this meeting arrangement was crowned with success since they allowed the participants to optimize their time on the fair and to meet targeted buyers, who had clearly shown a direct interest in their products. Business negotiations were already on the way by the end of the day ...

Sharing Corsica’s best with Singapore

Isabelle Nguyen - 18-janv.-2016 02:50:34

Held on 25 November 2015 in the Embassy of France in Singapore, the Food and Beverage Gourmet Tasting gathered 8 Corsican producers to introduce the rich, colorful culinary flavors to a hundred Singaporean buyers. During four hours of tasting, twenty Corsican specialties were being honored including delicatessens, cheeses, jams, biscuits, beer, liquors, wines, and even Corsican whiskey, which could be marketed very soon in Singapore given the strong interest shown by the guests. Some retailers have even wished to obtain exclusive rights on many products. Virtually not represented so far in Singapore, the Corsican gourmet products have very good prospects, even if they are considered as niche products. Sophisticated, Singaporean consumers are increasingly demanding high-value niche products. Organized by the Agri-business Department and Isula Corporation Singapore
