First partnership for Valiram and Business France to promote France and French products

At KLIA & KLIA2 domestic terminals, Shoppers at The Valiram Group’s Flying Emporium stores have the chance to win a trip for two to Provence as part of a major consumer campaign, which runs from now until 4 August. Destination France is the first travel retail partnership between Business France and Valiram, promoting Provence as a travel destination in France. The shop-and-win campaign is open to shoppers at KLIA & KLIA2 who spend RM250 at Flying Emporium stores. The grand prize is a five-day, four-night stay at Club Med’s Opio in Provence, with return air tickets provided by Air France-KLM. Other prizes include four premium gift hampers containing French chocolates, fragrances and cosmetics. Valiram KLIA Travel Retail General Manager Raj Daswani said: “At Flying Emporium we carry the best of France in chocolates, fragrances, cosmetics and skincare. Open tender for new air traffic centre

The Malaysian government is expected to issue an open tender for the construction of the RM700 million new air traffic control management centre by April.  According to director-general of the Department of Civil Aviation, Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, they  have identified a six-hectare piece of land and are carrying out soil investigations now. The department plans to advertise the open tender by April. Evaluation of the tender will take two months, with ground breaking of the centre, to be located at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang, expected by October.  Completion of the new centre will take 3.5 years. In the 2014 Budget announcement last year, the government said it would invest RM700 million for the construction of a new air traffic control management centre. The new centre is set to enhance KLIA’s competitiveness as a regional aviation hub, as the existing centre in Subang is now 20 years old and faces challenges in technology upgrade. Total project cost, which includes the construction of the centre and new solution implementation, should be lower than RM700 million. Source: Bernama

EADS: Delivery of the first A380 for Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia’s first Airbus A380, the new flagship aircraft and pride of Malaysia Airlines, touched down at KL International Airport (KLIA) on May 30th at 3:35pm. The first of the sixth A380 ordered by Malaysia Airlines, departed on its maiden journey from Toulouse, France yesterday and arrived safely on schedule in KLIA. Malaysia Airlines is the eighth operator of this super-jumbo and the first in the world to receive the aircraft for training purposes before returning to Toulouse for final touches. Malaysia Airlines’ A380 has a seat configuration of 494 comprising 8 First Class and 350 Economy Class seats on the main deck and 66 Business Class and 70 Economy Class seats on the upper deck. The national carrier will commence thrice weekly commercial operations of the A380 on the Kuala Lumpur-London-Kuala Lumpur route effective 1 July 2012. Daily A380 operations on this route will start from 25 August 2012 when the second aircraft joins the national carrier’s fleet. Source: Malaysia Airlines
