After 2 years in Malaysia, Diptyque decided to turn its chic kiosk into a classic, Parisian-inspired design flagship boutique and an olfactory experience. This Malaysian outlet is a new version of the iconic original design of Diptyque’s Boulevard St. Germain boutique in Paris but with its own unique local touch, an artistic reinterpretation of the traditional Wau Bulan, added to the floor. Aside from scents including candle, fragrance and skin care this new Diptyque store now houses the brand’s famous fashion and home decor collection. From the 29 th May to 3 rd June 2016 a French Infrastructure Excellence trade mission was co-organized by BusinessFrance, BpiFrance and Société Générale. A delegation of 16 French companies were hosted by the respective Business France offices located in Singapore & Kuala Lumpur. Singapore and Malaysia are considered by recent surveys as the top 2 most attractive infrastructure markets in Asia, which resulted in decision to appoint the two nations as joint host countries for a French Infrastructure Excellence mission. The 16 French companies who were selected for the mission are experts in fields of infrastructure, with a focus on railways solutions, construction equipment and services, urban innovation and energy systems. The companies were selected by Business France (Trade Commission), Bpifrance, the French Public Investment Bank and by Société Générale, one of the leading financial Banking and services groups in Europe. The purpose of this mission was to highlight the potential areas of business between French companies and the Malaysian market, with the aim of creating new partnerships and collaborations in the near future. On the morning of 1 st June, the delegation was welcomed in Kuala Lumpur by His Excellency Mr. Christophe Penot, Ambassador of France and by Mr. Nasser El Mamoune, French Trade Commissioner and Director of Business France in Malaysia. After several key presentations on macroeconomic topics and cultural differences in Malaysia, a networking lunch was organized with members of various public agencies as well as key players in the infrastructure sector. The first two days of the mission were dedicated to Business meetings, and the second day ended with a business coaching session and a cocktail at the Residence of France.  The mission was a real success, with very promising results and a clear demonstration of the strong potential and value-add of French expertise in Malaysia and South-East Asia.

IGEM 2014 - Very encouraging for the French SMEs

The 5th Edition of the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM2014) was held in Kuala Lumpur from the 16th to the 19th of October 2014. The exhibition was co-organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Malaysia (KeTTHA) and the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation. For the 5th consecutive year UBIFRANCE was present and set up a French Pavilion under the EU Pavilion running by European Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (EUMCCI). A total of 2 French SMEs from the environmental sector participated in this year’s edition, which was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Under the “Creating Green Wealth” theme of IGEM, the 2 French companies took the opportunity to introduce their activities in Malaysia: green mobility and water waste treatment.   The French Pavilion has been honoured by the visit of H.E. Mr. Christophe Penot, Ambassador of France in Malaysia, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Ongkili, Minister of KeTTHA, Datuk Seri Diraja Mahdzir Khalid, Deputy Minister of KeTTHA and Ir. Ahmad Hadri Haris, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Green Tech Corporation.   Through those visits and a booth always full during 4 days, we observed how the French green products are attractive for the Malaysian Government, Ministries as well as the private sector. IGEM 2014 has been highly constructive for our 2 French companies, thanks to various meetings and networking with the key local actors. Their businesses promise to conquer Malaysia within the next few months.

CEO of Naza group conferred Knight of the National Order of Merit

S M Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, CEO of Naza Group and president of the Malaysia-France Chamber of Commerce (MFCCI), was conferred the insignia of Knight of the National Order of Merit by the Ambassador Martine Dorance during a reception at the Residence of France on May 27, 2014. Present at the event was the Deputy Minister of Malaysia International Trade and Industry, YB Datuk Ir. Hj. Hamim Samuri uri.  Created by the President of the Republic Charles de Gaulle in 1963, the National Order of Merit recognises distinguished merits, civilian or military, by French or foreign citizens. The Naza group is the partner of Peugeot-Citroën since 2002. Success of this partnership has led Peugeot-Citroën to choose Malaysia as a platform for regional production for the entire ASEAN region. 3rd Edition of the Malaysia – France Defence SME Seminar

The 3 rd Edition of the Malaysia – France Defence SME Seminar was held in Kuala Lumpur on the 19 th of May 2014. A total of 20 French SMEs from the defence sector participated in this year’s edition, which was held at Wisma Perwira, Kuala Lumpur. The seminar was co-organised by the Defence Section of the Embassy of France in Malaysia, the General Directorate for Armament (DGA), the French Trade Commission (UBIFRANCE) as well as the Defence Industry Division of the Malaysian Ministry of Defence. French industrial groups of aeronautics (GIFAS), naval defence (GICAN) and ground defence (GICAT) also lent their support to the event. The event welcomed 35 Malaysian companies from the defence and civil sectors. The seminar was inaugurated by Dato’ Zulkafli bin Abdul Karim, the Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of Ministry of Defence Malaysia, and Rear Admiral Pascal Ausseur, the Director for Asia-Pacific, Directorate International Development of DGA, Ministry of Defence France with the presence of the Ambassador of France to Malaysia, H.E. Madame Martine Dorance. The morning session began with presentations from various government agencies including Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Ministry of Finance, Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MiGHT) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). These presentations were an opportunity for the French delegation to gain an overview of the business opportunities present in the Malaysian defence industry, as well as the processes and procedures involved in entering the Malaysian market. Workshops which focused on presentations from the French SMEs were organised for the mid-morning session, allowing them to showcase their expertise in their respective domains. Business to business (BtoB) and Business to Government (BtoG) meetings were arranged during the afternoon, for the French delegates to share their experience and their know – how with their Malaysian counterparts. The event ended with a networking cocktail in the evening at the Embassy of France in Malaysia.   The 3 rd Edition of the Malaysia – France Defence SME Seminar 2014 was sponsored by: Dassault Aviation, DCNS, MBDA & Safran. The Malaysian Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) has organized the 4 th edition of IGEM which took place on 10 -13 October 2013 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia . The French Pavilion, organized by the FRENCH TRADE COMMISSION - UBIFRANCE under the European Pavilion, in partnership with the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was led by French World Group ALSTOM and has gathered 4 SMEs coming especially from France (Leosphere, Hocer, CTP Environment and Someflu), all experts in innovative solutions for green and sustainable development.   Throughout these 4 days, the French companies have been able to meet extensively with local decision makers and professionals through proactive BtoB sessions organized by UBIFRANCE team, allowing them to promote their expertise and showcase their products and solutions to Malaysian partners.   This French Pavilion has received the active support of H.E. Mrs. Martine Dorance, Ambassador of France in Malaysia, and has been graces by the many official visits, including the Minister of KeTTHA and the the Prime Minister of Malaysia ( http://www.igem.com.my/ebook/igem-2013-show-daily-3.html ) .   Once again, the 2013 IGEM edition has been a big hit for the French participants!
