Bonjour France - A Taste of France

  The first edition of « BONJOUR FRANCE – A Taste of France » took place in Kuala Lumpur from 8 to 21 May 2015. The event was the result of a collaboration between Japanese retail chain ISETAN, Malaysian importer ELIT Purnama and French Trade Commission – Business France Malaysia. For the first time, Business France Malaysia organize d « BONJOUR FRANCE – A Taste of France » fair , in partnership with ISETAN and ELIT Purnama, for the promotion of French products to consumers in Malaysia. During the two weeks, a dedicated space in all ISETAN Malaysia outlets, notably the food hall in Suria KLCC , was used to showcas e French gastronomy. Mr. Nobuharu YUTANI, the Managing Director of Isetan Malaysia, His Excellency Mr. Christophe PENOT, the Ambassador of France to Malaysia and Tan Sri Mustafa , the Chairman of Standards Malaysia were present to jointly officiate the opening of BONJOUR FRANCE.  Partners and sponsors were then invited to a cocktail reception.    Throughout the 15 days, visitors had the opportunity to discover branded products imported specially for this fair (Charles & Alice, Louis Martin, Sojufel, Sibell, Mulot & Petitjean, Anis de Flavigny and Oncle Hansi), and to appreciate well-loved French dishes served up at a pop-up café managed by Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia as well as the chance to participate in G.H. Mumm champagne appreciation classes hosted by Pernod Ricard Malaysia.  

Flagship "Betjeman & Barton" tea room opened in Malaysia

French luxury tea merchant, Betjeman & Barton (B&B) opened its first flagship tea room on  June 2014 at 1Utama Shopping Mall. First  established in Paris in 1919, B&B has since then open more than 20 outlets around the world spanning from France, Belgium, Canada, Holland, Switzerland, Japan to Singapore.   Le Monde Fashion Group, the Master Franchisee of B&B for Malaysia, plans to open more outlets in strategic locations nationwide. 

Colloques et Rencontres Acheteurs filière Boulangerie-Pâtisserie

Du 18 au 20 Juin 2014, une délégation de 3 entreprises françaises  (Sorema, Panirecord et Mecatherm ) spécialisées dans les équipements de Boulangerie-Pâtisserie a réalisé une mission de prospection du marché malaisien. Après une présentation du secteur par l’équipe Ubifrance, les représentants des entreprises ont pu rencontrer les principaux acteurs de l’interprofession malaisienne au cours d’un diner de travail, leur permettant de recueillir les dernières informations propres à ce marché. Par la suite, un programme de deux jours de rendez-vous les a amenés à rencontrer les acteurs les plus importants de la boulangerie artisanale et industrielle mais également d’échanger avec des distributeurs, des meuniers et des membres des Grandes et Moyennes Surfaces.

Visit from JAKIM’s Halal Hub Division to UBIFRANCE Malaysia

On the 7th of February 2014, the UBIFRANCE Kuala Lumpur office was honored to welcome a delegation from the Department of Islam Development Malaysia (JAKIM) - Halal Hub Division. The delegation consisted of two officials,  Mr Mohd Suhaimi Yusoff, Senior Assitant Director and Mrs. Wahidah Noorshikin Jamaruddin Assistant Director of Hub Halal Dvision. An information session on the Malaysian Halal regulations was held during this visit, whereby a presentation on Halal and various functions of JAKIM’s Halal Hub Divsion was given to the Trade Advisors at UBIFRANCE. They also shed some light on the processes involved in obtaining the Halal certification, as well as related issues and case studies. The visit was a successful exercise in strengthening the bilateral relations between France and Malaysia. Please contact for futher information.

Began in 1892, Ayam Brand, famous with its Rooster symbol, would be one of the oldest consumer brands in Asia. A French citizen, Alfred Clouet, had started this business in Singapore, which was still part of British Malaya then. The brand was taken over by French Group, Denis Frères in 1956. Having recorded an average annual growth of 6 percent in the past 30 years, Malaysia is now ranked fourth among the newly industrialized nations . It’s not just the largest MNC, numerous small and medium enterprises (SME) have built factories in the country. Among them is the French group, SERAC . For 20 years from its factory on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, SERAC has been producing machines for packaging and filling, for export to the Asia-Pacific region.   “There is a very good quality-cost ratio between the structures offered by the government, by the Malaysian state. The economic environment, the educational environment and the costs associated with this. French Wine Testing

  On the 6th of March 2013, the French Trade Commission Ubifrance in Malaysia organized its first professional Wine Tasting at Double Tree Hilton Hotel. On this occasion, a delegation of 15 French producers coming from different regions of France met the Malaysian professionals of the sector: importers, distributors, restaurant professionals and specialized Medias. The tasting took place in a convivial business-friendly atmosphere where participants had time to exchange about their love of French wines. With a total of more than 100 professional visitors and some contracts concluded this event was a real success and should be renewed next year.

Sectors covered: Agriculture, Agro food Business,  food machinery and equipment, beverages Our objective is to understand the market trends and clearly identify all its stakeholders, in order to stimulate new business partnerships and to serve better the malaysian sourcing process. We are actively involved in business matching activities between French and Malaysian within Food and Beverage products.
