“Choose France!” summit focusing on France’s attractiveness to business

  The President of France will be attending the “Choose France!” summit at the Palace of Versailles on Monday January 22, where distinguished guests will include nearly 140 business leaders representing some the world’s biggest businesses in a wide variety of sectors, from the automotive industry to new technologies, agri-food, financial services and healthcare. The “Choose France!” summit is another key stage in the promotion of France’s attractiveness as a business location after several months of far-reaching economic reforms by the French government. The aim of the event is to highlight how France stands up as an attractive business destination, underpinned by the announcement of various investment projects in France and the presence of 140 business leaders, many of whom are on their way to the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland), who will discuss their ambitions in France with the President, Prime Minister and 16 ministers. Five multinational firms will use the summit to announce major investment projects in France. Each of these will serve as a symbolic illustration – due to either their size, the sums being invested, growth or jobs being generated, or their excellence and significance for sectors of the future. A handful of smaller projects will also be announced during the event. As part of a day largely given over to France’s attractiveness to business, the President of France will also pay an early afternoon visit to Toyota’s industrial plant near Valenciennes (north-eastern France), where the Toyota Yaris is made (3.5 million units produced since opening in 2001) and 3,800 people are employed at a site driving employment in the local area. It is also the 25th largest factory in France, turning out 30% of Toyota’s total output in Europe. Following his visit to Valenciennes, the President will travel straight to the Palace of Versailles, where he is scheduled to arrive around 6pm. He will take part in several bilateral meetings, including with Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of Facebook, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google Inc., Vasant Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis, Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP and John Chambers, formerly Executive Chairman of Cisco. Renault launches global digital strategy in India

Renault yesterday launched its new global digital strategy in India, to be replicated across its international operations, underlining the countrys importance in the French auto majors overall growth plans. The new digital identity offers a seamless experience to customers accessing website through the mobile, tablet and desktop. The new platform is the first Renault-Nissan Alliance digital initiative, the company said in a statement.   "Renaults new global strategy is launched first in India and will be replicated in Renault operations across the globe, clearly indicating the important role that the India operations plays in the overall growth plans of Renault," it added.   Internet is becoming one of the most important channels of information for customers looking to buy a new car and its aim was to offer customers a "best in class digital experience", it said.   Renaults new digital identity will have features, including a service-oriented platform on top of which websites are built enabling seamless journey where the same data?and services are available across different channels.   It also will have a single sign feature where the same authentication and profile is usable across websites, mobile apps, third-party websites.   Renault has been looking to scale up its presence in India and it will launch two new products-- MPV Lodgy and a small car in the entry level segment, which is the heart of the Indian automotive industry.   Renault India currently sells five models - Pulse, Scala, Duster, Fluence and Koleos. News - Peugeot Citroen may build cars in India with General Motors

PSA Peugeot Citroen said on Tuesday it may build cars in India with General Motors , its new global alliance partner, effectively scrapping a planned 650 million euro ($850 million) investment in its own factory. The companies will explore ways to use GM plants to support Peugeot’s long-heralded return to the Indian market, said Gregoire Olivier, head of Asian operations for the Paris-based automaker. The U.S. car maker has an Indian joint venture with China’s Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and sells models including the Chevrolet Spark, Beat, Sail and seven-seater Enjoy. GM has Indian plants near the western city of Mumbai and Halol, in Gujarat. Peugeot exited India in 1997 after the failure of an earlier joint venture, Premier Automobile Ltd., and had been seeking to re-enter the fast-growing market for at least two years before announcing the plant investment in Gujarat state last September.’ Amid mounting European losses, Peugeot flagged unspecified "timetable adjustments" to the project in January, two months after breaking ground at the factory site. GM and Peugeot announced their broad-based alliance in vehicle development and production on Feb. 29, along with a 1 billion euro Peugeot share issue that saw Detroit-based GM acquire a 7 percent stake in Europe’s second-biggest automaker.’

  A benchmark industry event in Europe, EQUIP AUTO 2011, the international biennial exhibition for automotive parts and garage equipment , will be held at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre from 11th to 15th October, 2011 .
