Alstom T&D India bags order to renovate Bihar grid

Alstom T&D India has secured an order worth Rs 506.6 million to renovate and modernise 132/33KV grid substations across various locations for Bihar State Power Transmission Company Ltd (BSPTCL)," the company said in a statement . Bihar is looking to invest in revamping the power sector in the state. The state government plans to replace the obsolete infrastructure, increasing power capacity and providing reliable and uninterrupted electricity to its 11 crore people. The project will strengthen the transmission system and enhance power evacuation capacity under India’s 12th Five Year Plan. "Under this contract, Alstom T&D India will replace ageing and defective substation equipment with new, advanced technology including 132 kV and 33kV outdoor circuit breaker, isolator, lightning arrestors and relay control panels," it said. The new equipment will strengthen the substations and hence, stabilize the transmission network in Bihar. Major equipment will be supplied from Alstom T&D India’s various manufacturing facilities across the country.   Company Managing Director Rathin Basu said: "Alstom is pleased to contribute to the optimisation of the electrical infrastructure for the state of Bihar. French Nuclear Expertise showcased at India Nuclear Energy 2012

  Ubifrance and the French Trade Commissions in India in association with the G.I.I.N. (the French Nuclear Industry Association) are organizing a French Pavilion at the India Nuclear Energy trade show from 25 th to 27 th September in Mumbai. The Pavilion aims to bring together 32 high-profile French companies to showcase their state-of-the art technologies in the nuclear energy sector. An Indo-French Technical seminar on Nuclear Energy in collaboration with the Indo-French Technical Association (IFTA) will be organized on 26th September to encourage discussions between Indian and French stakeholders of the nuclear sector and share solutions to the challenges of nuclear power development. The seminar will be inaugurated by H.E. Mr. François Richier, the Ambassador of France to India. Following their successful and well received participation at the India Nuclear Energy 2011, Ubifrance and the French Trade Commissions in India and the G.I.I.N. are reuniting these companies once again this year, in their endeavour to strengthen the links with their Indian counterparts, created during their previous visits to India. Their aim is to advance industrial and commercial cooperative ties between French and Indian companies, to meet potential Indian partners and discuss partnerships opportunities and to play an active role in the development of Indian nuclear infrastructure. The Indo-French Technical Seminar on Nuclear Energy: “The French Nuclear Industry: a Long-term Commitment for  High level Technology and Strengthened Safety” aims to bring together various representatives in the field of nuclear energy from India and France and a range of companies specializing in high-tech solutions related to nuclear power development. The program will include two interactive conferences on the following topics: 1. Safety and Critical Equipment and 2. Design, Construction and Instrumentation. Technical workshops specifically designed for the construction and engineering aspect of nuclear power plants will also be conducted by leading industry specialists. This seminar will serve to provide a breeding ground for information and ideas and allow all participants to gain valuable insights into the nuclear engineering industry. A guided tour for the French delegation to the Krakrapar Nuclear Power Plant in Surat (Gujarat) will also be organized on 24 th September 2012 to enhance their understanding of the Indian nuclear infrastructure. During the event, ACPP, nuclear subsidiary of the CTI Group of France , experts in manufacturing industrial boilers, welded metal sheets, industrial pipes and on-site assembly of equipment for nuclear industry, will sign a joint venture agreement with PRECIFAB Engineers Pvt. Ltd. , leading specialists in manufacture and supply of marine water handling equipment and pump components. The joint-venture company CTI – Precifab, based in Kolhapur in India is expected to give new impetus to Indo-French cooperation in the field of nuclear power. The French Pavilion at the trade show is the largest international pavilion with a participation of 32 companies from the French nuclear power industry.
