Record commercial performance for Alstom in 2015/16

Yvon Maier - 05-juil.-2016 11:46:01

Between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016, Alstom achieved a record commercial performance with orders received and backlog at respectively €10.6 billion and €30.4 billion. Over the same period, sales were up 12% (7% organically), amounting to €6.9 billion. The adjusted EBIT increased to €366 million, 23% above last year, leading to an adjusted EBIT margin of 5.3%.    Net income (Group share) reached €3.0 billion, benefitting from the sales of Energy activities to General Electric and after impact of exceptional impairments mainly in France.    Alstom benefits today from a very strong balance sheet. The net debt significantly decreased to €0.2 billion on 31 March 2016 compared to €3.1 billion on 31 March 2015. Equity amounted to €3.3 billion at 31 March 2016.   Following the cash return to shareholders of €3.2 billion through the public share buy-back offer, the Board of Directors will propose no dividend distribution at the next Annual General Meeting.          “2015/16 is the second record commercial year in a row for Alstom, including a major e-Locos project in India and successes across all regions and product lines. Sales growth exceeded expectations with above 5 % average organic growth over the past four years. The adjusted EBIT was up by over 20%. Balance sheet is strengthened by the transaction with General Electric. The implementation of our strategy is on track allowing us to confirm our 2020 objectives.”, said Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Alstom’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer.   Official website : www.alstom.com French Rail industry :  http://business.youbuyfrance.com/french-rail-industry/companies

France’s railways roll out web portal for business and innovation

Yvon Maier - 03-mars-2016 11:13:10

French-rail-industry.com has been launched in 2014 to promote France’s railways, thanks a partnership agreement between Business France, the French export-support agency, and Fer de France, the Inter-professional Association for France’s railway industry. French-rail-industry.com aims to meet a twofold objective. In the first instance, it helps to raise awareness among industry professionals worldwide of the know-how prevalent in France’s railway sector — a widely acknowledged and greatly praised centre of excellence. In the second instance, French-rail-industry.com helps to establish connections between international buyers and French suppliers. The directory of French players in the railway sector, make it easy for potential customers based outside France to browse the profiles of any French company they choose and contact them directly through a messaging interface integrated into the website. The French suppliers featured on the platform are broken down into eight main categories: embedded electronic systems; mechanical components fitted on rolling stock; passenger-information and ticketing systems; passenger public transport; rail-car layout; railway infrastructure; railway testing and engineering; and, finally, rolling stock. Thanks to the expertise, technological skills and innovative ability of its companies, France’s railway industry enjoys international recognition: the country is ranked third worldwide in the sector. Within Europe, the French railway industry is ranked second only to Germany, with 1,500 companies generating over €4 billion, equating to 25% of the country’s exports in value. Site officiel: www.french-rail-industry.com

« France is the second largest exporter of equipment and services for the oil and gas sector…

Yvon Maier - 24-janv.-2016 09:34:30

« France doesn’t have significant O&G resources», says Agnès Hagyak,   Project Manager for Oil & Gas in the Paris head office of French export-support agency Business France, interviewed by Business France Radio. Despite this lack of resources, French companies have managed to do well in the industry, on both upstream (exploration, production) and downstream (refining) levels. France is even the second largest exporter in the world. The French industry can rely on major companies like Total, NG (natural gas) or Technip but also on many small and middle size companies (more than 500) covering many important services within this industry, like water treatment, telecommunications, software and security equipment. These companies’ goals are now to find more oil and gas clients around the world, find the right areas with interesting potential, and offer technologies adapted to new environmental and producing requirements. And among these targets are the countries of the Gulf. « In this part of the world, we have both upstream and downstream sectors, explains Agnès Hagyak. There are many things to do there.» As a matter of a fact, ADIPEC, the International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference held in Abu Dhabi in November is « a very good opportunity to find potential partners and direct clients, according to Agnès Hagyak. This show is also a way for the French to promote their services directly to customers. They must play their card well abroad. » ADIPEC, official website: https://www.adipec.com/ Companies exhibiting at ADIPEC: http://www.youbuyfrance.com/ae/companies.aspx?k=&z=&c=&ca=3&sca=72 http://www.youbuyfrance.com/ae/Events-3518-french-pavilion-at-adipec-2015-abu-dhabi Companies in the oil and gas industryare on youbuyfrance.com: http://www.youbuyfrance.com/ae/companies.aspx?k=&z=&c=&ca=3&sca=72

Awards and Trophies handed out at Galerie des Solutions by WE as part of COP21 at Le Bourget Exhibition Centre.

Yvon Maier - 02-déc.-2015 12:49:07

An increasing number of businesses are committed to production, construction, development and operations models that have less impact on resources and the climate. Innovative solutions in terms of reducing energy consumption, cutting greenhouse gases and safeguarding resources already exist. With a view to highlighting them, the ADEME (French Environment and Management Agency), C3D (Collège des Directeurs du Développement Durable), Crédit Coopératif, Orée Association (Business and Local Areas), Solutions COP21, Shift Project and World Efficiency have launched the first Trophies for Climate Solutions. Certified by the COP21 "solutions agenda", the purpose of the trophies is to recognise the best climate change attenuation and/or adaptation solutions and give these initiatives a standard-setting value for other businesses looking to take action in these areas. The Trophies will be officially awarded on 2 December 2015 at Galerie des Solutions held at Le Bourget Exhibition Centre by World Efficiency during COP21 . The winners will receive exposure on 4 December at the Winners Conference as part of the COP21 Solutions event at the Grand Palais in Paris.
