Direct Energie and Poweo merge to better resist EDF and GDF Suez

Christine Deniel - 11/07/12

Direct Energie and Poweo will merge this week, a marriage of convenience that will create to the first gas and electricity alternative supplier in France, able to better resist the supremacy of the historical actors EDF and GDF Suez. The new group will be listed in lieu of Poweo on Alternext Paris, and renamed Poweo Direct Energie. This marriage of convenience will allow, according to Direct Energie and Poweo, to create the third energy operator in France and the first alternative company in the energy sector, bringing one million of electricity and gas customers together and making an annual turnover of more than a billion euros.
