Airport Operator of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, PT. Angkasa Pura II targets to exceed the traffic movement and capacity of Changi International Airport by 2021 and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) by 2019. Currently, Soekarno-Hatta serves 30 direct flights to international destination while KLIA serves 60-70 international destinations and Changi serves 100 international destinations. In order to compete with Changi and KLIA, PT. Angkasa Pura II is planning to increase the capacity and the quality of the terminals in Soekarno-Hatta Internatinal Airport. There are 3 areas highlighted by PT. Angkasa Pura II in order to achieve the target: 1.       Terminal Capacity By 2017, it is predicted Terminal 3 extension will operate fully with the maximum capacity of 25 million passengers per year. The amount invested for this development is Rp 5.7 trillion.   In addition, there are projects for the revitalization of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to increase the capacity from 10 million passengers per year to 20 million passengers per year. Therefore with the full operation of all 3 terminals, Soekarno-Hatta will have the capacity to reach up to 65 million passengers per year. Lastly, PT. Angkasa Pura II also begins to plan the creation of Terminal 4 which will be located north of Terminal 3. Each terminal will then be equipped with people mover system, a special train system which will connect all 4 terminals in the landside area. 2.       Airside Angkasa Pura II has begun the land acquisition process to construct the 3 rd runway with 173.19 hectare. The runway will be 3,000 meter and will be able to accommodate B777 and A380 operations. The construction for the 3 rd runway is expected to begin in early 2018. Furthermore, Angkasa Pura II is also planning for the construction of east cross taxiway in June 2016. The amount invested for this project is Rp 1.5 trillion. At the current capacity, Soekarno-Hatta can hold up to 72 aircraft movements per hour but with the additional 3 rd runway Soekarno-Hatta can hold up to 100 aircraft movements per hour. 3.       Public Access In order to compete with Changi and KLIA, Soekarno-Hatta will have to improve public access to airport. Angkasa Pura II is cooperating with PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to provide train access from Airport to the center of Jakarta. Currently PT. KAI is conducting land acquisition process around Batu Ceper. The train will operate from Batu Ceper to Soekarno-Hatta Airport via Manggarai Station by March 2017. In addition, Jakarta Provincial Government          is coordinating with central government for the construction of light rail transit (LRT), where one of its corridors will serve the route Kelapa Gading – Kemayoran – Pesing – Soekarno Hatta International Airport. With train and LRT access, the traffic around the airport is predicted to reduce by 60%.
