Laboratoire d'Herboristerie Générale, was created in 1943 in Marseille, France, as a bulk negotiating firm for medicinal plants, herbs and spices of all origins.

In 1976, the company moved to a new production site and underwent a strategic restructuring opening doors to new markets by offering more elaborated products in terms of transformation and packaging.

Provence Epice, a registered trademark, was launched in 1983 to consolidate the presence of Laboratoire d'Herboristerie Générale in the foods market.

In 1987, the acquisition of the century-old brand Epices Rabelais enriched its foods line with an historic and secret spice blend thus reinforcing its commercial network.

The restructuring of its offices, investment in new production equipment, and the extension of its services and product lines in 1996 earned Laboratoire d'Herboristerie Générale a unique position in the herbs trade domain.

In 2000, with the desire to halt treatment of spices by irradiation, Laboratoire d'Herboristerie Générale commissioned research in accordance with ANVAR (The French Agency for Innovation) framework resulting in the creation of an inventive Thermal Treatment procedure.

With the creation of an on-site laboratory for analysis and standards verifications in 2003, the company resolutely declared its commitment to quality in the herbs trade market.

From its beginning, this family-owned business has been and remains a company dedicated to the development and evolution of its trade.

Laboratoire d'Herboristerie Générale is a member of the French export association France Méditerranée Export (FME).
