Hence when food and technology are combined, it is nurturing meaningful development in food making processes. And the Gulfood Manufacturing is an opportunity for French companies to emphasize their innovations both in ingredients and equipment ».    In 2018, more than 55 million euros of food processing equipment  have been imported in the Middle East (GCC, Egypt, Lebanon), including 77% in the GCC (the main categories of equipment are machinery for filling, closing, sealing and labelling bottles, cans, bags and other containers, machinery for the industrial preparation or manufacture of food and beverages).   French ingredients are also largely used in the region, especially in the bakery, dairies, confectionary industry and in food service.    While the United Arab Emirates imported +10% French dairy products in 2018 than the previous year, the French dairy products imported by the GCC in 2018 reached 1.4 billion euros, they reached a market share of 8.1% in KSA. Saint-Gobain announces the winners of the 14th edition of its MultiComfort House Students Contest

Rejula ARUN - 14-mai-2018 15:39:46

Created in 2004, the objective of Saint-Gobain’s students contest is to develop a project based on the principles of the Multi-Comfort concept: an optimum indoor environment ensuring the right level of fresh air, thermal, visual and acoustic comfort provided in a sustainable and energy efficient manner. The task for the 14th international edition of the Saint-Gobain’s MultiComfort House Students Contest, developed in close collaboration with the Planning Department of Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Properties Group, consisted in creating a vision for a transcultural vibrant community development located in the perimeter of Dubai’s Cultural Village, a multi-purpose area located along the Dubai’s creek Al Jaddaf shoreline. The challenge lay in Dubai’s very hot and humid climate. Students had to find a way to reconcile the reduction of energy consumption of cooling and ventilation systems with a beautiful and highly efficient building envelope. This without compromising any of the inhabitants’ comforts, and while providing optimum connection with the environment and having a minimum impact on it. “Again this year, this 2018 MultiComfort Students Contest will be noted in the records for the high-level quality of the projects submitted by the students. I am always amazed by their innovative spirit to use the Saint-Gobain Multi Comfort solutions to create better and great living places everywhere. Congratulations to all of them!“ said Pierre-André de Chalendar, Chairman and CEO of Saint-Gobain.  "The MultiComfort House Student Contest sheds light on the incredible efforts of a young generation of distinguished architects who will be key contributors to ensuring that Dubai will enjoy a sustainable environment in line with our leadership’s vision". Saint-Gobain’s First Multi Comfort House in the Middle East Breaks Ground at Masdar City

Rejula ARUN - 13-mai-2018 16:15:41
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, May 13, 2018: French multinational Saint-Gobain has broken ground on its first Multi Comfort House in the Middle East at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi’s flagship sustainable urban community. In the presence of HE Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment and Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE, Pierre-André de Chalendar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Saint-Gobain, and Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), conducted today’s foundation stone laying ceremony. The Multi Comfort House at Masdar City is one of 30 similar projects around the world. It is the first in the Middle East and a hot region anywhere in the world. On completion at the end of next year, it will demonstrate Saint-Gobain’s patented technology aimed at improving health and well-being by optimizing the human experience within the built environment. According to the Multi-Comfort philosophy, homes that are more comfortable make for happier and more productive people, and are more sustainable as a result.  A world leader in the habitat and construction sector, Saint-Gobain will further increase its UAE presence through the Multi Comfort House, as well as raise awareness of its innovative solutions addressing the challenges of sustainable construction, resource efficiency and climate change. “The UAE is a reference in construction development,”’ said Pierre-André de Chalendar, Chairman and CEO of Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s top 100 industrial groups. “It is building excellence, represented through Masdar City, is a role model for all, and Saint-Gobain is proud to be part of it.” He added: “Feeling good in a building is about having the perfect amount of light, the proper level of sound, the ideal temperature and a constant supply of fresh air. It is about design and technology, beauty and safety, efficiency and sustainability. This is precisely what Saint-Gobain can provide and demonstrate through this state-of-the-art Multi Comfort House to be constructed at Masdar City.”    A “greenprint” for sustainable urban development, Saint-Gobain considered Masdar City the natural location to highlight its expertise in comfortable and sustainable home living. “It is a privilege to receive the chairman and CEO of one of France’s most prestigious companies at Masdar City, and to partner with Saint-Gobain in realizing its first Multi-Comfort House in the Middle East,” said Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi. “Our towns and cities consume around two-thirds of the world’s energy and account for more than 70 per cent of global carbon emissions. At the same time, the way our homes and offices are designed impacts our health, well-being and quality of life significantly.” “Saint-Gobain’s Multi-Comfort philosophy reinforces our own concept of sustainable urban development, which is based on the three pillars of economic, social and environmental sustainability,” added Al Ramahi. “It also complements the Eco-Villa prototype opened at Masdar City last year, conceived as a template for affordable and highly energy- and water-efficient residential villas in the UAE. We look forward to further collaboration with Saint-Gobain in commercial sustainable real estate as we continue on our journey to realize the world’s most sustainable urban community here at Masdar City.”  Saint-Gobain will build the 400-square-metre Multi Comfort House on a 2,200-square-metre site next to the Masdar City Eco-Villa. On completion, it will serve as both a Multi Comfort “experience centre” and an office for Saint-Gobain employees, while also providing training in the company’s products and solutions. It will be fully adapted to the UAE climate.   The German architecture and engineering consultancy Obermeyer will design and supervise construction of the project, expected to open by the end of 2019. Saint-Gobain first developed the concept of Multi Comfort construction in 2004. It covers the four dimensions of light, air quality, temperature and acoustics within the home, as well as tertiary buildings such as shops, offices and public buildings. -Ends- About Masdar City Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City is one of the world’s most sustainable developments.
