Fight against counterfeit: Vallourec launches “Valguard”, a high- performance solution for forgery-proofing its certificates and products

Rejula ARUN - 14-nov.-2017 14:10:07

Boulogne-Billancourt and Abu Dhabi, 14 November 2017 - During the Adipec 2017 conference, which is being held this week in Abu Dhabi, Vallourec, a world leader for premium tubular solutions, is today introducing Valguard, an innovation enabling all users of Vallourec tubes to verify their authenticity. Valguard firstly allows for the forgery-proofing of certificates concerning Vallourec tubes by means of a QR code, and secondly makes it possible to forgery-proof the products themselves, through the use of a special marking technology. Counterfeit is a major issue that affects many sectors including industry and, in particular, premium seamless tubes. Vallourec takes this matter very seriously given the critical nature of the applications and projects for which the tubes are intended to be used. Two years ago, the Group put in place an in-house anti-counterfeiting committee to centralize information and take action against counterfeiters. It also conducts awareness-raising campaigns, primarily as part of the Steel Alliance Against Counterfeiting1, which it co-founded, and through international conferences alongside major players such as Interpol or the Emirates Intellectual Property Association. Vallourec’s Valguard solution ensures the security of documentation describing, in particular, the mechanical and metallurgical properties of each tube. The Group’s IT teams have developed a specific signage system that will now be included on all Vallourec tube certificates. Using just a smartphone, all holders of a new certificate will be able to check the coherence of their document and contact the Vallourec customer service in just one click for a more detailed expert appraisal. Valguard also relies on cutting-edge technology, close to that used in the aerospace or healthcare sectors, based on a "Vallourec DNA" tracer. Industrialized and qualified by the Group’s research laboratory in Aulnoye-Aymeries (Northern France) and by the Quality teams, this solution makes it possible to check the authenticity of a tube, using a specific sensor linked to a mobile app. The two Valguard functions will be deployed from the end of 2017 and are designed for use across all tubular solutions: process applications, petrochemicals, industry, mechanics, oil and gas, line pipes, power generation. About Vallourec Vallourec is a world leader in premium tubular solutions for the energy markets and for challenging industrial applications such as oil and gas wells in harsh environments, new generation power plants, daring architectural projects, and high-performance mechanical equipment. Vallourec’s pioneering spirit and cutting- edge R&D continually open new technological frontiers. Operating in more than 20 countries, its 19,000 dedicated and passionate employees work hand-in-hand with their customers to offer more than just tubes: they deliver innovative, safe, competitive and smart tubular solutions to make every project possible. Listed on the Euronext in Paris (ISIN code: FR0000120354, Ticker VK) and eligible for the Deferred Settlement Service (SRD), Vallourec is included in the following indices: SBF 120 and Next 150. In the United States, Vallourec has established a sponsored Level 1 American Depositary Receipt (ADR) program (ISIN code: US92023R2094, Ticker: VLOWY). OSVfinder launches the first online chartering platform for energy market.

Rejula ARUN - 22-oct.-2017 12:42:06

A new innovating web application which revolutionizes offshore support vessels chartering by connecting charterers and ship-owners online. United Arab Emirates, October 22nd 2017 – OSVfinder is now running a testing campaign with SAIPEM. SAIPEM will be sending real enquiries through OSVfinder. This period of test will extend till fall. OSVfinder allows charterers, to quickly contact shipowners without using intermediaries. By using the geolocation of ships, an advanced search engine and internal messaging, the application makes offshore chartering simpler, faster and cheaper. Who - The application is for shipowners and charterers operating in offshore Oil & Gas and renewable marine energies. What - When registering on the OSVfinder platform, shipowners indicate the availability of their vessels to charterers who need offshore marine support for offshore energy projects. The platform provides tools for direct communication between charterers and ship-owners. The application also generates market reports with statistics based on customer activity. Where - The service offered by the company is accessible anywhere in the world. Only an internet connection and a subscription are necessary to be able to connect and use the application. [The headquarters of the company, currently based in Marseille, aims to open offices in Singapore and Dubai]. How - Once shipowners and charterers are registered on OSVfinder, they have access to all the features of the web application. Shipowners simply indicate the availability of their vessels, referenced in the OSVfinder database. Charterers launch their requests for avalaibility and find a list of matching vessels corresponding to their needs, including technical specifications, geolocation, pictures, data sheets, and then directly contact corresponding shipowners via an internal messaging system to send their calls for bids. Why – With more than 100,000 vessels and 70 international shipowners registered such as Bourbon SA, Tidewater, Solstad, Boskalis, Seacor, Swire and Smit Lamnalco, OSVfinder’s main goal is to modernize the offshore Oil & Gas industry by offering a digitized service that creates a new working environment and allows time-saving tricks and economy of scale for both charterers and ship-owners. Instead of fees that actors are used to pay, the company will run on a subscription plan. Thus, OSV finder would not invoice any commissions. Welcome on the french pavilion organized by BUSINESS FRANCE at ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi from 13rd to 16th november 2017 (Hall 9) to discover OSVfinder. Quality French presence at the ADIPEC show Abu Dhabi, November 13–16, 2017

Rejula ARUN - 17-oct.-2017 12:39:39

United Arab Emirates, October 17,2017: The ADIPEC show is a flagship event for the sector and the Middle East. ADIPEC has grown to become the world’s second leading O&G event in terms of region covered, exhibitor numbers and, crucial to a show’s success, quality visitors. That is why Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, is once again organizing a French collective pavilion at ADIPEC, where some 40 companies representative of the industry’s various sectors will be presenting their products, services and expertise to local professionals with a view to developing or strengthening partnerships. With major reserves (48 % of the world’s oil reserves and 38 % of its gas resources) and an expected two-fold increase in its production between 2004 and 2020, the Middle East is a leading global player and the commercial opportunities in the oil and gas industry in the region are vast. Despite a sluggish hydrocarbons sector due to persistently low oil prices, the Middle East is still a very attractive region. The quality and quantity of the hydrocarbons produced in the region, along with lower-than-elsewhere extraction and processing costs, make it possible to generate business that is still better than in many other areas of the world. The expertise of French companies, their technological skills and their capacity for innovation have helped the French oil and gas services industry to garner international recognition and a leading position among European exporters. It is an industry par excellence, with one or more international leaders in the majority of its business areas. Alongside operators the likes of TOTAL, it consists of oil and gas industry equipment and service providers which include world giants such as CGG and TECHNIP. The sector also has two world-renowned research institutes, IFP Energies Nouvelles and IFREMER, and several major engineering firms and contractors. Aware of the new challenges of a difficult context, the French companies exhibiting at ADIPEC (Hall 9) offer solutions that serve the needs of operators: reservoir optimization, reserve development, precision tools for wells and surface units, facility equipment and surveillance systems, environmental protection, and more.
