A Strong French Presence at the Baghdad International Fair

Rejula ARUN - 11/11/18

United Arab Emirates- 2018: BUSINESS FRANCE, the national agency supporting the international development of the French Economy, will organize a French pavilion at the Baghdad International Fair for suppliers of equipment, materials, services for the construction, infrastructure sector wishing to participate in the reconstruction program for Iraq. Other French exhibitors from different business sectors will also attend the event, federated by the French Embassy to Iraq.

With 37 million inhabitants, Iraq is one of the largest markets in the region and has secured €26 billion for its reconstruction at the Kuwait conference last February. The new dynamic driven by the Iraqi government is also supported by France’s public authorities, and 2018 marks the return of French companies to the Iraqi market, which offers truly significant potential, particularly in the construction, architecture and building materials sectors.

The French construction industry has undeniable strengths in sectors where technical sophistication, innovation, quality and design play an essential role. With a highly fragmented network of + 409 000 businesses and revenue of €126 billion, France’s ability to play a major role in global trade is all the greater given that most of the sectors that make up the industry include one or more international leaders.

In the field of public works, the turnover posted by French companies amounts to €64.9 billion, including €28.5 billion in exports. This sector is buttressed by the know-how of several major groups. French engineering is highly appreciated internationally, and suppliers of materials and equipment also enjoy a solid reputation.

The reconstruction of Iraq is resulting in many opportunities with rapidly growing demand for capital goods. The Baghdad International Fair, which enjoys high visibility in Iraq, thus offers French exhibitors a unique opportunity to meet the main private and institutional stakeholders.

French exhibitors will be located on and around the French Pavilion at Hall 2.
