More than 1,100 guests to celebrate 30 years of France UAE collaboration in Dubai!

• 1st edition of French Tech Award, won by a Dubai based Entrepreneur • Middle East unveiling of PSA new vehicle, 3008 Peugeot United Arab Emirates, May 2nd 2017 - Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Information Department and His Excellency Michel Miraillet, Ambassador of France to the UAE, Gala Dinner 2017 of the French Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates was attended by more than 1,100 representatives of French major companies, local partners and international VIP guests to honor 30 years of relationship between France and UAE. As the largest French business event in Dubai, the gala dinner was a historic evening celebrating 30 years of effective collaboration, ambitious projects and success of France in the UAE. This year, the ceremony has been marked by a new initiative to highlight the tech and digital startups in the UAE, in partnership with the French Tech Hub Dubai UAE and supported by its partner KPMG to audition the candidates. La French Tech is a label powered internationally by Business France, the national agency in charge of the international development of the French economy. The jury of high-level professional and institutional members awarded Marc Fleschen, Founder and CEO of ZERO.1, as the winner for the development of a Light Fidelity (LiFi) solution that uses LEDs to provide data. He received his award from the hands of Sebastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor Hotels, who specially came from France. France is one of UAE’s top trading partners in Europe and bilateral relations have strengthened in recent years, with 3.6 billion euros of exports. UAE is therefore the main market in the Gulf region. Both countries then share synergies while they remain attractive markets for foreign direct investment. Michel Miraillet, Ambassador of France to the UAE stated: “I wish to thank Dubai authorities for placing their trust in us. Today, a tourist comes to Dubai with an Airbus A380, takes a metro equipped by Thales, and catches a connection to the Tramway built by Alstom to reach his hotel operated by Accor Hotels chain”. FBC Gala Dinner was also a great occasion to highlight automotive innovation when PSA Group revealed in sneak preview its new 3008 Peugeot vehicles. EDF and Veolia demonstrated their strong position on the power and sustainability fields, and Chalhoub Group participated in the success of this event. “And beyond the well-known solutions of our large corporations, what France also has to offer to the UAE is a wide network of startups and SMEs that create a smarter and happier future!”, Miraillet added. Business France and the French Business Council just signed an agreement to support French Businesses & Trade in the United Arab Emirates

United Arab Emirates, 13 June 2016 - Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy and the French Business Council in Dubai & Northern Emirates signed an agreement to enhance business and trade of French companies in the UAE. The signed convention aims to offer a strategic partnership for the development of French SME’s abroad and especially in the United Arab Emirates. This agreement will establish a framework of cooperation in the following fields: BtoB commercial services, business establishments and promotions. Together, the two sides will put into effect a range of joint marketing activities, such as btob services, networking events, conferences and exhibitions to help French companies to strengthen ties with local businesses and increase French exports. The signing partnership was attended by H.E Michel Miraillet, Ambassador of France to the UAE, H.E Majdi Abed, Consul General of France in Dubai & northern emirates and both signatories, Marc Cagnard, Business France Director in the Middle East and Bruno de Reneville, president of the French Business Council in Dubai & Northern emirates. United Arab Emirates remain a key partner in economic terms: the largest market in the Middle East and 4th largest French trade surplus. Total volume of trade between France and UAE represent 5 billion euros. In 2015, French exports to the UAE represented 3.9 billion euros and French imports from the UAE meant 1.1 billion euros. UAE represents a quarter of French exports to the Middle East. French exporters were about 6000 in 2015, 60% of which were SMEs. Around 600 subsidiaries of French companies are present in the UAE. H.E Michel Miraillet, Ambassador of France to the UAE stated: “we have to keep in mind our ultimate goal is to structure French offer to meet Emirati expectations and hereafter to other Middle East markets, this strategic partnership is essential to work together on this”. United Arab Emirates, May 3rd - French major companies and SMEs, local partners and authorities as well as international VIP guests… all attended together the annual Gala Dinner of the French Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates, the largest French business community event of the year in the UAE! This remarkable evening took place on April 21st under the theme of creativity: ‘So French, So Creative!’ The French Business Council, a non-profit organization and business platform in Dubai, aims to promote economic and trade activities between France and the UAE by supporting a network of more than 700 members. The FBC Gala Dinner was a great occasion to highlight innovation and creativity values of France throughout the world, and especially in Dubai. The international campaign launched by the French government, CREATIVE FRANCE, was part of the evening to strengthen perceptions towards France image and create positive conditions for French economic development. INDIA Taking care of business In India, the ‘Créative France’ campaign took off during French President François Hollande’s visit during the India-France Business Summit and the ensuing CEO Forum. The forum meets to discuss various business-related matters, such as immediate policy issues to encourage greater trade and investment, and acts as a way for business leaders to highlight their needs, interests and desired policy reforms for government consideration and action. It was here that ‘Créative France’ was formally launched in the country. UNITED STATES What happens in Vegas… “La French Tech” was a major success at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, with 190 French startups taking part. As French Minister for the Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs Emmanuel Macron points out, France created 1,500 start ups in 2015 alone, and boasts five so-called ‘unicorns’, rare startups valued at more than US$1 billion. Thirty percent of companies exhibiting at the startup venue Eureka Park at the CES this year were French, making France the third leading representative in this section of the show. SWITZERLAND Creativity for industry The ‘Créative France’ campaign attended the World Economic Forum 2016 Annual Meeting last month in Davos. Centered around the theme “Mastering the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the WEF opened its doors to 2,500 participants, including entrepreneurs, heads of state and government, NGOs and academic representatives. Led by French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, France turned the spotlight onto nine startups and entrepreneurs: Famoco, Oledcomm, Devialet, Linkfluence, Digitsol / Zhor Tech, 10 Vins, Holi, Djit and Plume Labs. Report on the ceremony of the Young French Professionnal Program Award (Grand Prix V.I.E)- – United Arab Emirates 2016

The 7th edition of the “Grand Prix VIE” United Arab Emirates, organized by the Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE) of France with the support of Business France, was closed on March 17th 2016 with the award ceremony of the prizewinners. The ceremony was held at the Eastern Mangrooves hotel in Abu Dhabi in the framework of the Middle East Section Annual Meeting of the CCE. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Michel Miraillet, French Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates; Alain Bentejac, President of the CNCCEF; Mikaïl Houari, Chairman of the CCE Emirati section; Marc Cagnard, Director of Business France office in United Arab Emirates; Patrick Erbs, Head of the Economic Department of the French Embassy to the UAE; representatives of the Franco-Emirati Chambers (French Business Council of Dubai and French Business Group of Abu Dhabi); etc. The 2016 edition gathered 15 candidates from French companies ofdifferent sectors and sizes, based in the UAE. The winners are: Grand Prix VIE – Large companies: Thomas Radiguet, Auditor Rares Gas & Helium, Air Liquide Grand Prix VIE – SME: Martin Saunier-Plumaz, Business developer, VIE working for several French SMEs. Prize of Adaptability to local life / Creativity: Laure Jardry, Project Manager / External relations, France Museums Agency-Louvre Abu Dhabi Special Prize of the Jury: Sébastien Herriau, Sales Manager Middle East, Chocolaterie Monbana The “Grand Prix VIE” enables to highlight the career of young French professionals, their personality, their human and professional qualities, and the export projects of French companies (especially dynamic and engaged SMEs). These VIE are “ambassadors” of France and they represent the creativity of France’s entrepreneurial network. An award on Creativity was newly given this year, in the framework of the French Campaign “Créative France”. The V.I.E program is a real success in the UAE, where more than 170 young French professional are hosted today, which means an increase of 13% within one year.
