In March 2011, Stéphane Lafond and Katell Perrot, two former french L’Oréal colleagues, launch an innovative organic face care range dedicated to kids : TOOFRUIT.
Thanks to a collaboration with the professor Humbert of the department of dermatology, TOOFRUIT conducted in the University Hospital of Besançon, France, the first exploratory study on the physicochemical characteristics of the skin of 60 children aged 6 to 12 years.

TOOFRUIT found that, unlike adults, children have a very inefficient hydrolipidic film because their skin does not secrete enough sebum to protect itself :
- its lipidic index is at least 10 times lower than that of adults,
- its hydration is 28%.
These results show that the skin of children aged 7 to 12 years is very dry, dehydrated and its barrier function is particularly impaired.
This is due to the fact that children skin does not produce sebum before puberty.
TOOFRUIT has thus developed a Filmo-Protect Complex, 100% vegetal that mimics the composition of sebum, and acts as a protective shield. (47% protection measured).
