Francois Doucet Confiseur

A Legend from Provence:

The business was
started in the town of
Oraison by Francois
and Maggy Doucet in
1969 and is located
in the Alpes de Haute Provence,
one hour north of Marseilles. It
employs 70 people from a variety
of backgrounds and maintains
a dynamic, artisanal character.
For Francois Doucet making
confectionery is a long family
story dating back to the time of
his great grandfather, Theodore
Vieillard, said to be the creator
of the French fruit jelly in the Auvergne.
Oraison is in the heart of
Provencal orchard country and
enjoys a climate which favours
fruit growing, and the company
benefits from a ready supply of
apricots, pears, peaches, quince
and figs…not to mention wonderful
provencal almonds.
The fame of the business has
been based on the key values of
tradition, quality and creativity,
and has been recognised by fellow
professionals with the award
at the Intersuc international exhibition
of no less than 15 ‘Blue
Ribbons’ since 1979.
At the beginning Francois Doucet
produced traditional French
pralines, roasted local almonds
coated with nougatine, flavoured
with herbes de Provence.
The assortment grew to include
pear and apricot candied fruit
jellies while today there are three
distinct groups of products: traditional
pralines coated in chocolate,
fruit jellies, and candied
fruit coated in chocolate.
Two essential elements are the
origin and quality of the fruit
and 70% of the fruit used is harvested
fully ripe in Provence and
neighbouring regions.
The factory, temperature
controlled storage and offices
take up about 5000m2, and annual
production amounts to 430
tons of fruit jelly and 300 tons of
chocolate confectionery.
Computer technology allows us
to carefully control stock at every
stage with up and downstream
traceability. It also allows economic
and financial management,
and underpins HR and the maintenance
of plant and equipment,
quality control and customer
relations.
The sales team in France, Europe
and worldwide ensures that we
can respond to the needs of our
clients, many of whom are retailers,
and apart from the current
range of products Francois Doucet
Confiseur also can create
bespoke recipes to satisfy customer
demand. We are also certified
to make organic fruit jellies.
Every year something new is
added to enhance the Francois
Doucet range of confectionery.
