Wine began to be produced from Château Haut Goujon’s vineyard in the early 20th century. At that time, there were just six hectares of Merlot.
In 1950, Henri Garde (third generation) took over the management of the property and developed it considerably. He also provided the estate with an excellent structure, and the success of today’s Château Haut Goujon is largely due to his diligence and hard work.
His three children Corinne, Mickael and Vincent, took over the management of the property in 1995 and currently produce wines from 20 hectares of vines, divided between two AOPs: Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne St Emilion.
In order to optimize its wine supplying operation, the Garde family decided to create its own wine merchant company, Maison Henri Garde, offering the benefit of their extensive experience and expertise. This company selects its own ranges of wines, on the basis of a tradition of quality and the finest terroirs. For each range, we select wines from family properties that produce good quality wines with a strong personality, and which are committed to a sustainable development approach.
Our family company integrates a profound respect for the expression of different terroirs with a dynamic, close involvement with the markets. One of our major assets is our ability to innovate and create. Innovation has always been the company’s guiding principle and this is reflected in our commitment to sustainable development; we have ISO 14001 and HEV 2 certification, and were early members of the Vins de Bordeaux association’s EMS (Environmental Management System), we also have an innovative approach to our products (grape varieties, blends, etc.) and to their presentation and packaging.
