Our Domaine is made with 24 hectares of Vineyards in Controlled appellation.
Based on the famous Vineyards of Tormery, they take place at 300 to 400 m high, which gives a favoured sun exposure.
Our Production is 1 200 hecto liters on average (3/4 in White Wine of Savoie, and ¼ in Red Wine of Savoie). All is hand made harvested, grown in a traditional way, and voluntary limited to keep just the BEST.
We sell 180 000 bottles per year, for 60 % in the restaurants, and 40 % directly sold from the cellar.
The Savoie Vineyard is based on Chignin village, was in the old times property of Aristocratic, till after the 1914/1918’s world war.
As this war killed a lot of young people; the owners of the Vineyards (also submitted to a huge tax for French Estate) decided to sale their properties (Vineyards and houses). The sales have been made per little plots, in the aim that the buyers (nothing else than farmers and salaried employees), who were very poor are able to pay for their acquisitions.
It’s in this way that big Domaines have little plots, whose have been many times reduced, due to shares for the kids along the generations.
My Grand Parents took part in those buyers around the 1930’s.
My Father, Andre, took prematurely in charge the Domaine around 1944 , as his mother (widow for more than 10 years) was handling it alone with different cultures on the property.
He started the bottling in 1960, after working with barrels sales to the coffee shops.
My Father always worked for quality and protection of the terroirs, and the Tradition. The Savoie Wines were VERY appreciated during the old times.
With the tourism explosion 40 years ago, his Domaine could developp itself more and more, with the Hotels and Restaurants for his best window.
The extension of the cellars and the Vineyards were made in 1976, with my arrival on the domaine, an oenologist and Wineculture diploma won in Beaune in my pocket. We created the name of « GAEC Père et Fils » (Administration name of our Domaine)
20 years after, we enlarged again the GAEC in EARL(administration words), because of my parents retirement. After studies in Beaune wine then Changins Switzerland, my eldest son, Guillaume, joined the field in 2009. He is now in charge of winemaking.
Our target is still to grow characteristic Wines, whose express our beautiful Terroir as much as we can.
We work with the worry of protecting the nature balance, and the biologic activity of the soils.
We are certified in Sustainable agricultural practises since 2004.
