From an encounter

Les vignobles de Lamothe started in 1986 by the meeting of two young wine enthusiasts, Claire et Daniel LAFOI. At the beginning, nothing could predestine them to become winegrower in Bordeaux. Claire comes from a family of winegrower from Val de Loire and Daniel was born in the north of Marseille.

Having undergo a good technical and oenological training in Bordeaux universities, they started this adventure and took hold on in Saint Ciers d’Abzac near Libourne and created "Château Lamothe-Barrau".

A proof of quality

Les vignobles de Lamothe have the use of a plateau overlooking the Saye valley with a sandy silty soil on a clayey formation of molasse of Fronsadais.

Enjoying the good exposure to sunlight and the good terroir to cultivate vine, Claire and Daniel grow 14 hectares of vine. Combining tradition with modernity, they practise an integrated agriculture in order to respect and protect biological cycles of the vine and the environment.

From the pruning to the harvest, they give priority to a preventive disease protection rather than curative methods and use the functional biodiversity to protect the vineyard. Most of the different works on the vine are handmade in a family

Wine of pleasure

Les vignobles de Lamothe have a large range of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur, from red wine to white wine with Rosé, Clairet and Crémant de Bordeaux.

Come to the château to discover a red wine with a fruity and rounded taste from a sweet blending of « Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon » and a remarkable « Sauvignon » white wine, aromatic and elegant.
